Hailing from the Texas High Plains, this Reserve Sangiovese is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of Texas viticulture. Sagmor Vineyard, located in Lubbock, was originally planted by Dr. Clinton 'Doc' McPherson, a legendary figure widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the modern Texas wine industry. Under the stewardship of his son, winemaker Kim McPherson, this wine showcases how beautifully Mediterranean grape varieties adapt to the semi-arid, high-altitude terroir of the Texas High Plains. The vineyard's sandy loam soils and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts yield Sangiovese grapes with vibrant acidity, bright red fruit character, and a rustic complexity reminiscent of its Tuscan roots, refined through careful oak aging to add structure and depth.
