Mas La Plana, historically known as Gran Coronas Black Label, is one of Spain's most legendary red wines, single-handedly putting Spanish Cabernet Sauvignon on the global map. In 1964, Miguel A. Torres planted French Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the clay-limestone soils of the Mas La Plana vineyard in Pacs del Penedès, defying local traditions. The gamble paid off spectacularly when the inaugural 1970 vintage triumphed over some of Bordeaux's most prestigious estates, including Château Latour, at the 1979 Gault-Millau Wine Olympiad in Paris. This iconic wine is crafted from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing deep concentration, intense dark fruit, truffle, and forest floor notes, refined by meticulous aging in French oak barrels.
