✨ Technical Specifications
The story of Chilean Carmenere is one of the great romances of modern wine history. Long thought to be Merlot, this lost Bordeaux variety was rediscovered in Chile's vineyards in 1994. Miguel Torres Chile, established in 1979 as a pioneer of modern viticulture in the region, embraced this unique grape, crafting their Gran Reserva to showcase its full potential in the Central Valley. Benefiting from the region's warm, sunny days and cooling breezes from the Andes Mountains, the grapes achieve optimal ripeness while retaining essential acidity. The wine is typically aged in French oak barrels for close to a year, which softens the variety's naturally robust tannins and imparts elegant notes of vanilla, toast, and sweet spices to complement its signature dark fruit and herbal complexity.
