Familia Torres has been a towering figure in Spanish viticulture since 1870, but it was in the mid-20th century under Miguel A. Torres that they revolutionized the Iberian wine landscape by introducing international noble varieties to the ancient soils of Catalunya. Gran Viña Sol, born from this spirit of innovation, is a celebrated expression that beautifully marries the rich, international character of Chardonnay with a touch of the traditional Catalan grape, Parellada. Grown in the sun-drenched vineyards of the Catalunya DO, where cool Mediterranean breezes preserve vital acidity, this wine undergoes a careful vinification process. A portion of the Chardonnay is fermented and aged in French oak barrels for several months to impart a delicate creaminess, subtle vanilla, and toasted notes, while the remainder is kept in stainless steel to safeguard the vibrant aromas of ripe peach, pineapple, and citrus.
