Miguel Torres's Vigno is a proud testament to the renaissance of Maule Valley's ancient viticultural heritage. Born from the Vignadores de Carignan (VIGNO) association, this wine celebrates the rescue of dry-farmed, head-trained Carignan vines, many of which are over 60 to 80 years old. Originally planted in the mid-20th century to improve the color and acidity of local wines after the devastating 1939 Chillan earthquake, these resilient vines thrive in the poor, granitic soils of the coastal drylands of Maule. Miguel Torres crafts this wine using traditional methods, aging it in French oak to soften Carignan's naturally wild, high-acid, and tannic profile. The result is a deeply concentrated, rustic yet elegant red that sings of dark berries, wild herbs, and earthy minerality, embodying the rugged spirit of Chile's viticultural history.
