Hailing from the historic Itata Valley in southern Chile, Morandé's Colinas de Ranquil is a tribute to the country's deepest viticultural roots. The wine is crafted from ancient, dry-farmed, head-trained País vines grown on the rolling granitic hills of the Ránquil commune. País, introduced by Spanish missionaries in the 16th century, was long relegated to bulk wine, but pioneering projects like this have revitalized its reputation. Grown in the cool, coastal-influenced climate of the Sur region, these centenarian vines yield a red wine of remarkable character. Morandé utilizes traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques to preserve the grape's rustic elegance, showcasing wild red berries, earthy minerality, and a distinct herbal complexity that reflects the local dry-forest terroir.

Viña Morandé was founded in 1996 by visionary winemaker Pablo Morandé, widely celebrated as the viticultural pioneer who introduced commercial vine plantings to the cool, maritime-influenced Casablanca Valley. Now operating under the Morandé Wine Group umbrella with historical headquarters and cellars centered in Pelequén, the estate farms extensively across prime Chilean macro-terroirs ranging from coastal Casablanca and Limarí to the granitic dry-farmed Secano Interior of Maule and Itata. Under the cellar direction of Ricardo Baettig alongside Pablo Morandé, the winery is renowned for innovative technical methods, including early adoption of high-density plantings, concrete eggs, and traditional untoasted foudres. Across whites and sparkling expressions, the house crafts crisp coastal whites and classical cuvées alongside boundary-pushing benchmark bottlings such as Edición Limitada Black Chardonnay, Bestiario, and the noble rot dessert wine Edición Limitada Golden Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, marrying varietal freshness with textural complexity.
