Morandé's 'Malmau' is a compelling tribute to the viticultural heritage of Chile's Maule Valley, with its name playfully combining 'Malbec' and 'Maule'. Sourced from ancient, dry-farmed, head-trained vines, this wine represents a rescue mission of sorts, showcasing the incredible potential of Maule's historic terroirs. The vines grow in weathered granitic soils with clay, forcing their roots deep to find moisture and imparting a distinct mineral tension to the wine. To honor this unique fruit, the winemaking team employs minimal intervention, utilizing traditional concrete vessels and large neutral oak foudres for aging. This approach preserves the grape's intense floral aromas, dark fruit profile, and rustic, earth-driven complexity, resulting in a Malbec of profound character and sense of place.

Viña Morandé blev grundlagt i 1996 af den visionære vinmager Pablo Morandé, som er almindeligt anerkendt for sin pionerindsats inden for vindyrkning i det kølige klima i Casablanca Valley. I dag rangerer vinhuset blandt Chiles mest innovative og respekterede producenter.
