✨ Technical Specifications
Bodegas Muga, established in 1932 in Haro's legendary Barrio de la Estación, is one of Rioja's most revered traditional estates, famous for its in-house cooperage and dedication to oak aging. Flor de Muga Blanco represents a refined, contemporary pinnacle of Rioja Alta white winemaking. Crafted primarily from old-vine Viura grown in high-altitude, iron-clay and limestone soils, this wine utilizes only the first-run juice—the flower (flor) of the press. Fermented in small oak vats and aged on its fine lees in lightly toasted French oak barrels, it bridges the gap between Rioja's historic wood-aged whites and modern freshness. The result is a wine of exceptional complexity, balancing vibrant acidity with a creamy, textured mouthfeel and delicate white flower, citrus, and toasted brioche notes.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, Bodegas Muga is one of the most revered and historic family-run wineries in Spain, situated in the legendary Barrio de la Estación in Haro within the Rioja Alta subregion. The bodega remains steadfastly dedicated to traditional winemaking methods, being one of the few producers to maintain its own in-house master cooperage, crafting all fermentation vats and aging casks from fine oak, alongside practicing natural clarification through egg-white fining. Muga's portfolio harmoniously bridges classic elegance and modern expression, celebrated worldwide for iconic, long-aged cuvées such as Prado Enea Gran Reserva, Seleccion Especial, and the contemporary powerhouse Torre Muga, in addition to acclaimed Conde de Haro sparkling wines and expressive Rioja whites and rosados.
