Niepoort's Dry White Port is a masterclass in the traditional art of white Port making, showcasing a style that has delighted enthusiasts for generations. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Douro Valley, where schist soils impart a distinct mineral tension, this wine is crafted from a blend of indigenous white varieties including Códega, Rabigato, Viosinho, Arinto, and Gouveio. Unlike sweet Ports, the must undergoes a longer fermentation period before fortification, allowing most of the natural sugars to convert to alcohol and resulting in a drier, highly versatile profile. The wine is then aged for several years in seasoned oak casks in the historic lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia. This oxidative aging process imparts a beautiful golden-amber hue and complex aromas of dried fruits, orange peel, and toasted nuts, maintaining a perfect balance between fresh acidity and rich, wood-aged character.

Niepoort blev grundlagt i 1842 af Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort og er et ikonisk, uafhængigt familieejet hus med base i Vila Nova de Gaia og dybe historiske rødder i Portugals Douro-dal. Huset har i over et århundrede været berømt for sine skelsættende Colheita- og Vintage Ports, men gennemgik en dynamisk renæssance under femtegenerations-visionæren Dirk Niepoort, der banede vejen for den moderne æra af uforstærkede Douro-bordvine i absolut topklasse. Med en kompromisløs forkærlighed for gamle vinmarker med field blends, minimal intervention i vinfremstillingen og et unikt terroirudtryk skaber vinhuset hyldede tørre vine som Batuta, Charme og Redoma sideløbende med nyere projekter i Bairrada og Dão. I dag står Niepoort som et globalt beundret pejlemærke for portugisisk vinkunst, der ubesværet forener en tidløs portvinsarv med innovative, elegante og mineralske bordvine.
