✨ wine.spec_sheet
First released in 1999, Niepoort's Redoma Rosé revolutionized the perception of Portuguese rosé, proving that the Douro Valley could produce a serious, age-worthy, and deeply gastronomic wine. Sourced from high-altitude, old vineyards dominated by mica-schist soils, this wine is crafted from a field blend of traditional grape varieties, primarily Tinta Amarela and Touriga Franca. Dirk Niepoort's vision was to treat this rosé like a fine white wine; after a brief skin contact, it is fermented and aged in old French oak barrels. This traditional, low-intervention method imparts a brilliant structure, complex dried flower and mineral aromas, and a textured, dry palate that defies the simple, sweet stereotypes of the category.
