Niepoort's 30 Year Old Tawny Port is a masterclass in the art of patience and blending, representing a liquid history of the Douro Valley. The journey begins in the rugged, schistous vineyards of the Cima Corgo, where low-yielding old vines—some over 60 years old—yield a field blend of traditional grape varieties like Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz. After traditional foot-treading in granite lagares and fortification, the wine is moved to the historic, cool cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. Here, it undergoes a slow, decades-long oxidative transformation in seasoned 550-liter oak pipes. Over thirty years, the intense purple of youth fades into a brilliant, deep amber-orange, concentrating the wine into a complex elixir of dried apricots, orange peel, toasted nuts, and exotic spices, while retaining Niepoort's signature freshness and vibrant acidity.
