Nieto Senetiner's classic Malbec is a tribute to Mendoza's winemaking heritage, where the French grape found its ultimate expression at the foothills of the Andes. Sourced from selected vineyards in Luján de Cuyo, this wine captures the essence of high-altitude viticulture. The grapes benefit from intense solar radiation and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, resulting in thick skins rich in polyphenols. Fermented in traditional concrete vats and partially aged in French oak, the wine tells a story of survival and adaptation, tracing back to the 19th-century cuttings that escaped the phylloxera plague in Europe. It represents a classic, fruit-forward yet structured style of Argentine Malbec, defined by its deep violet hues and velvety texture.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1888 by Italian immigrants in the premier wine-growing region of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Nieto Senetiner is one of Argentina's most historic and prestigious wineries. The estate was acquired by the Nieto and Senetiner families in 1969, who expanded its facilities while preserving its architectural heritage, and it is now part of the Perez Companc Group. Renowned for its deep respect for terroir, the winery crafts exceptional wines from historic vineyards, including the centenarian vines of Finca Villa Blanca planted in 1906. Under the guidance of winemaker Santiago Mayorga, Nieto Senetiner produces elegant, structured wines, most notably their acclaimed Don Nicanor Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and innovative blends that showcase the classic character of Mendoza.
