✨ Technical Specifications
Crafted from 100% Pedro Ximénez grapes, Osborne's 'Venerable' is a legendary VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry) with its solera system established in 1902. The journey begins with the 'soleo' process, where the harvested grapes are sun-dried on straw mats under the intense Andalusian sun to concentrate their sugars. After fortification, the wine enters a historic solera system in El Puerto de Santa María, where it undergoes oxidative aging for an average of over thirty years. This slow, decades-long evaporation creates an incredibly dark, viscous nectar of astonishing complexity. The heritage of the Osborne bull and the centuries-old cellars of Marco de Jerez are encapsulated in this bottle, offering deep aromas of dried figs, raisins, dark chocolate, and exotic spices.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 1772 by English merchant Thomas Osborne Mann, Bodegas Osborne stands as one of the most storied and enduring dynastic houses in the Marco de Jerez. Headquartered at the historic Bodega de Mora in El Puerto de Santa María, the house benefits from a coastal microclimate shaped by the Guadalete estuary and cooling Atlantic poniente breezes, which temper humidity and foster dynamic biological and oxidative maturation. While Palomino Fino and Pedro Ximénez grapes originate primarily from the white, moisture-retentive albariza soils of top pagos such as Balbaína, Osborne's cellar mastery centers on its monumental criaderas y soleras. Under the direction of celebrated enologist and master blender Marcos Alguacil, the bodega preserves an extraordinary repository of historic casks, including rescued ancestral criaderas from Pedro Domecq. Osborne's fortified pinnacle is expressed across revered VORS and Rare Solera bottlings—exemplified by Sibarita Oloroso, Palo Cortado Capuchino, Amontillado Solera AOS, and Pedro Ximénez Solera 1827—alongside legendary Solera Gran Reserva brandies.
