The Red Willow Vineyard Chapel Block Syrah is steeped in the very history of Washington State viticulture. Red Willow Vineyard, located in the far western corner of the Yakima Valley, was the birthplace of Washington Syrah when grower Mike Sauer, inspired by Master of Wine David Lake, first planted the variety here in 1986. The Chapel Block itself is named after the iconic, hand-built stone chapel that stands atop a steep, rocky ridge overlooking the vines. This block's ancient, nutrient-poor soils and dramatic south-facing slopes force the vines to struggle, resulting in low yields of highly concentrated fruit. Owen Roe crafts this wine with minimal intervention, utilizing traditional fermentation and aging in French oak to preserve the vineyard's unique signature. The resulting Syrah is a masterclass in balance, marrying rich dark fruit with savory nuances of smoked meat, cracked black pepper, and a distinct stony minerality reminiscent of the Northern Rhone.

Owen Roe blev grundlagt i 1999 af David og Angelica O'Reilly og er opkaldt efter den irske 1600-tals-patriot Owen Roe O'Neill. Vingården opererer i det amerikanske Pacific Northwest og slår bro mellem Yakima Valley i Washington og Willamette Valley i Oregon. Her drager man fuld fordel af kølige mikroklimaer, en varieret undergrund af vulkansk oprindelse og vindblæst løss samt solrige, tørre modningsbetingelser. Efter en kort periode under eksternt ejerskab købte familien O'Reilly vinhuset tilbage i 2024 for at genoplive deres oprindelige, uafhængige vision. Både i vinmarken og i kælderen lægger filosofien vægt på strengt begrænsede høstudbytter, manuel høst, gæring i små partier og en nænsom lagring på franske egetræsfade for at bevare druernes renhed og det enkelte terroirs autentiske typicitet. Med druer fra referenceparceller som Red Willow og DuBrul fremstiller Owen Roe anmelderroste enkeltmarks-vine på Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah og Chardonnay samt prisvenlige cuvéer under etiketterne Sharecropper’s og Corvidae. Fælles for husets vine er en struktureret profil med et stort lagringspotentiale, båret af en spændstig syre og en dyb koncentration.
