Hailing from the sun-drenched slopes of Hawke's Bay on New Zealand's North Island, Oyster Bay Merlot captures the vibrant, fruit-forward essence of one of the Southern Hemisphere's premier red wine regions. Hawke's Bay boasts a rich viticultural history dating back to the late 19th century, where ancient riverbeds and alluvial soils provide the perfect drainage for grapevines. Oyster Bay, a pioneer in bringing New Zealand's cool-climate elegance to the world stage, crafts this Merlot to showcase the natural intensity of the fruit. The grapes are gently crushed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve their bright, primary fruit characters, followed by a period of French oak maturation to impart subtle spice, structure, and velvety tannins. The result is a classic cool-climate Merlot defined by luscious dark plum, wild berry, and soft herbaceous undertones.

Oyster Bay blev grundlagt i slutningen af 1980'erne og er ejet af Delegat Group. Huset opnåede international stjernestatus, da dets allerførste årgang 1990 vandt det prestigefyldte Marquis de Goulaine-trofæ for bedste Sauvignon Blanc ved International Wine and Spirit Competition i London i 1991.
