Named 'Les Jumelles' (The Twins) in homage to the legendary twin hills of Côte-Rôtie—the Côte Blonde and the Côte Brune—this classic cuvée from Paul Jaboulet Aîné beautifully bridges the two distinct personalities of the appellation. According to local lore, a medieval lord gifted these sloping hillside vineyards to his two daughters, one blonde and one brunette, explaining the names of the distinct terroirs. The Côte Blonde, with its lighter gneiss and granite soils, imparts elegance, silkiness, and floral aromatics, while the Côte Brune, rich in iron and mica-schist, provides structure, power, and deep savory complexity. Jaboulet meticulously crafts this wine from steep, hand-harvested terraced vineyards, aging it in French oak barrels to harmonize the intense dark fruit, black pepper, and smoky notes characteristic of classic northern Rhône Syrah.

Founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet in the northern Rhône Valley, Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of France's most iconic wine estates, renowned for its historic vineyards and uncompromising quality. Now owned by the Frey family and guided by winemaker Caroline Frey, the estate has transitioned to certified organic and biodynamic viticulture across its legendary holdings, which span prestigious appellations like Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, and Cornas. The house is globally celebrated for its flagship Syrah, Hermitage "La Chapelle," alongside expressive white wines and the accessible, classic Parallèle 45 range. Through meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification and aging in French oak, Jaboulet continues to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines that define the character of the Rhône.
