Penfolds Bin 600 Cabernet Shiraz represents a historic cross-continental endeavor, blending Australian winemaking philosophy with Californian terroir. The story began in 1998 when Penfolds imported heritage vine cuttings from their prized South Australian vineyards, including the legendary Kalimna and Magill Estate, and planted them in the soils of Camatta Hills in Paso Robles, California. This wine is a tribute to those pioneering vines, combining Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz sourced from premium California vineyards. True to the Penfolds house style, the wine undergoes maturation in American oak barrels, resulting in a rich, structured red that marries the dark fruit profile and structural tannins of Cabernet with the plush, spicy generosity of Shiraz.

Penfolds blev grundlagt i 1844 af dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold og hans hustru Mary på Magill Estate i South Australia og er i dag et af Australiens ældste og mest ikoniske vinhuse. Ejendommen opnåede legendarisk international anerkendelse i 1950'erne under den visionære chefvinmager Max Schubert, som skabte Penfolds Grange og revolutionerede landets vinfremstilling. Drevet af en berømt filosofi om at blande på tværs af regioner og druesorter udvælger Penfolds enestående druer fra historiske australske terroirs – herunder Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale og Coonawarra – samt fra udvalgte internationale topområder.
