✨ Technical Specifications

Penfolds' legacy is deeply intertwined with the history of Australian fortified winemaking, a style that dominated the winery's production long before the creation of Grange. Established in 1844, the estate originally produced fortified wines prescribed by Dr. Christopher Penfold as health tonics for his patients. The Club Reserve Tawny is a direct descendant of this rich heritage, representing a premium tier of the historic 'Club' range. Crafted from a blend of traditional varieties like Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro, this tawny is matured in seasoned oak casks using a solera-style system. This patient aging process coaxes out complex notes of dried figs, toasted nuts, and sweet spices, delivering a velvety, warming palate that honors Australia's historic fortified traditions.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1844 by Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary at the Magill Estate in South Australia, Penfolds is one of Australia's oldest and most iconic wine producers. The estate achieved legendary international acclaim during the 1950s under visionary chief winemaker Max Schubert, who created Penfolds Grange and revolutionized the country's winemaking techniques. Driven by a celebrated philosophy of multi-regional and multi-varietal blending, Penfolds sources exceptional fruit across historic Australian terroirs—such as the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, and Coonawarra—as well as select premier global regions. The house is universally revered for powerful, impeccably structured, and long-lived wines, led by its flagship Grange, Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon, and celebrated Bin series.
