Malvasia, historically known as Malmsey, represents the sweetest and most luscious style of traditional Madeira. The grape itself boasts a legendary lineage, having been introduced to the volcanic cliffs of Madeira in the 15th century under the direction of Prince Henry the Navigator. Pereira D'Oliveira's Malvasia Reserva is crafted to showcase the rich, opulent side of this noble variety. Sourced from steep, terraced vineyards carved into the island's basaltic soils, the grapes benefit from a warm maritime climate. The wine is aged in seasoned oak casks, developing a complex tapestry of flavors. This traditional process coaxes out deep, caramelized notes of dried figs, molasses, and dark spices, all brilliantly balanced by the vibrant, electric acidity that is the hallmark of Madeira's unique terroir.
