✨ Technical Specifications
The Terrantez grape is one of Madeira's most legendary and enigmatic varieties, famously difficult to cultivate and once on the brink of extinction. There is an old Portuguese adage, 'Neither eat them nor give them away, for God made them for wine,' highlighting the grape's esteemed status. Pereira D'Oliveira's Terrantez Reserve showcases this rare variety's signature profile, marked by a striking tension between residual sweetness and a distinctive, slightly bitter, smoky finish. Aged in seasoned oak casks under the traditional canteiro system, the wine undergoes slow, oxidative maturation in warm lofts. This process coaxes out complex aromas of dried orange peel, dark spices, wax, and toasted nuts, backed by the searing acidity characteristic of the island's volcanic soils.
