✨ Technical Specifications
Tinta Negra is the historical workhorse grape of Madeira, surviving the late 19th-century phylloxera epidemic to become the backbone of the island's wine production. For generations, it was relegated to anonymous blends, but historic houses like Pereira D'Oliveira have championed its potential, proving it can produce wines of immense complexity and longevity that rival the noble varieties. This Medium Dry expression is crafted using the traditional canteiro system, where the wine is aged in seasoned oak casks in the warm attics of Funchal. Over time, the gentle, natural heat concentrates the wine, developing a complex profile of dried orange peel, warm spices, and toasted nuts, all balanced by the vibrant, mouth-watering acidity characteristic of Madeira's volcanic soils.
