Hailing from the sun-drenched hillsides of Gascony in South-West France, Colombelle Selection Blanc is a vibrant testament to the region's winemaking renaissance led by the Plaimont cooperative. The name 'Colombelle' evokes the 'little dove', a symbol of peace and freedom that perfectly mirrors the wine's light, soaring, and aromatic character. Crafted primarily from Colombard, a grape once relegated to brandy production but beautifully reimagined here, this wine thrives on the region's unique 'boulbènes'—fine sandy soils over clay. Benefiting from the cool night breezes blowing down from the Pyrenees and the tempering influence of the Atlantic Ocean, the grapes retain an explosive, zesty freshness. The winemaking emphasizes cold maceration and protective, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to capture the intense, fleeting aromas of passion fruit, fresh citrus, and white flowers, making it a benchmark of modern Gascon white wines.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1979 under the visionary leadership of André Dubosc, Plaimont is a pioneering cooperative union located in Saint-Mont within the Gers department of South-West France. By uniting the historic cellars of Plaisance, Aignan, and Saint-Mont, the producer has become a champion for reviving and safeguarding the indigenous heritage grape varieties of the Pyrenean foothills, such as Tannat, Pinenc, Gros Manseng, and Arrufiac. Plaimont is globally renowned for its commitment to ampelographic preservation, famously tending to a historic, pre-phylloxera vineyard parcel that is classified as an official French historic monument. Their diverse portfolio spans expressive, fresh whites, robust reds, and vibrant rosés, exemplified by the Fleur d'Artagnan range and the celebrated late-harvest Saint Albert and Saint Sylvestre wines.
