โœจ Technical Specifications

Sourced from galestro and marl-laden hillside parcels near Castelnuovo dell'Abate in southeastern Montalcino, this cuvรฉe captures the warmth and steady diurnal breezes flowing from the Orcia river valley. Fermentation proceeds in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs to manage phenolic extraction from the thick-skinned Sangiovese Grosso. Maturation adheres to regional discipline, resting for up to 36 months in traditional large Slavonian oak casks, which slowly softens the assertive structural tannins without masking varietal character, followed by extended bottle resting before distribution.

๐Ÿพ About the Producer

Poggio Forte is an estate label and brand historically associated with the Salvioni family of the Quercecchio estate in Montalcino, Tuscany. Situated near Castelnuovo dell'Abate in the southeastern quadrant of the Montalcino DOCG, the vineyards benefit from a warmer Mediterranean microclimate tempered by breezes moving up from the Orcia river basin, rooted in stony, marl- and galestro-rich soils that encourage optimal physiological maturity in Sangiovese. Viticultural management relies on sustainable farming across hillside slopes, prioritizing moderate yields and healthy canopy aeration. Winemaking follows traditional Montalcino methods: fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by extended aging for up to 36 months in large Slavonian oak botti. The resulting Brunello di Montalcino delivers a classic expression featuring sour red cherries, dried herbs, leather, forest floor, and structured, savory tannins with bright Tuscan acidity.
