Hailing from the prestigious hills of Piedmont, Italy, this red wine represents the traditional craftsmanship of the renowned cooperative, Produttori del Barbaresco. Founded in 1958 by the local priest Don Fiorino Marengo to rescue struggling growers, the cooperative has become a global benchmark for Nebbiolo. While celebrated for their classic single-vineyard Riservas, any parcel-specific bottling like Casotto highlights the exceptional diversity of the Barbaresco appellation's clay-limestone soils. Made entirely from the noble Nebbiolo grape, the wine undergoes traditional long maceration on the skins and aging in large Slavonian oak casks. This classic approach preserves the grape's signature aromas of dried roses, sour cherries, forest floor, and tar, backed by a firm, age-worthy tannic structure.

Widely revered as the gold standard of viticultural cooperatives, Produttori del Barbaresco traces its ideological ancestry to Domizio Cavazza's 1894 Cantine Sociali, before its modern rebirth in 1958 orchestrated by local parish priest Don Fiorino Marengo and nineteen grower families. Today comprising over 50 member-growers managing approximately 120 hectares exclusively planted to Nebbiolo across the commune of Barbaresco, the cooperative oversees quintessential Langhe terroir characterized by calcareous-clay Sant'Agata marls and steep, sun-drenched hillsides. Under the longstanding stewardship of Managing Director Aldo Vacca, Produttori follows an unapologetically traditional cellar regimen: spontaneous temperature-controlled fermentations, month-long skin macerations with submerged caps, and lengthy maturation exclusively in massive neutral Slavonian oak botti. In premier vintages, the cellar vinifies nine legendary single-vineyard crus identically—including Asili, Rabajà, Montestefano, Ovello, and Pajè—to transparently showcase microclimate and soil nuances, yielding structured, classically austere, and exceptionally ageworthy Nebbiolo expressions.
