The story of Produttori del Barbaresco is one of the greatest cooperative success stories in the wine world, founded in 1958 by the local parish priest, Don Fiorino Marengo, to protect small growers. The 'Riserva Speciale' designation represents a historic milestone from the late 1960s and 1970s, when the cooperative began bottling exceptional single-vineyard sites like Rabaja, Montestefano, and Ovello separately. Crafted from 100 percent Nebbiolo grown in the calcareous clay soils of Piedmont, these wines underwent traditional long macerations and extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks for at least four years.
