✨ wine.spec_sheet

Prunotto's Pian Romualdo is a benchmark Barbera d'Alba Superiore, sourced from the historic vineyard of the same name in Monforte d'Alba, a site renowned for producing Barbera of exceptional structure and longevity. The estate itself dates back to 1904, when it was founded as a cooperative, later saved and elevated by the visionary Alfredo Prunotto in 1923. The soils here, rich in clay, silt, and manganese, impart a distinct mineral complexity and robust body to the Barbera grape, which has historically been the everyday champion of Piedmontese tables. Aged gracefully in a combination of large oak casks and smaller barrels for approximately 12 months, this wine represents a harmonious bridge between traditional Piedmontese soul and modern refinement, offering vibrant acidity balanced by deep dark fruit and subtle spice.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Established in 1923 when Alfredo Prunotto acquired the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe,' the Prunotto winery is situated in Alba, in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Under the stewardship of the Antinori family since 1989, the estate has consistently championed the diverse terroirs of the Langhe and Monferrato hills. Prunotto balances traditional Piedmontese winemaking practices, such as aging in large oak casks, with modern precision to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines. The winery is celebrated for its exceptional single-vineyard expressions, including the Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot, alongside classic regional styles like Nebbiolo d'Alba Occhetti and Roero Arneis.
