Evel is one of Portugal's oldest and most iconic wine brands, first registered by Real Companhia Velha in 1913. The name 'Evel' is a clever anagram of the Portuguese word 'leve' (meaning light or smooth), which perfectly captures the wine's elegant, fresh, and highly approachable character. Sourced primarily from the cooler, high-altitude vineyards of the Alijó plateau—such as Quinta do Casal da Granja—this classic Douro white benefits from cool nights that preserve its vibrant acidity and aromatic intensity. Fermented entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats with no oak contact, Evel Branco is crafted to showcase the pure, bright fruit flavors of traditional Douro grape varieties, making it a beloved staple of Portuguese tables for over a century.

Real Companhia Velha blev grundlagt i 1756 ved kongeligt dekret af kong José I under ledelse af Marquês de Pombal og er Portugals ældste og mest historiske vinhus. Med sine legendariske modningskældre i Vila Nova de Gaia og vidtstrakte vinmarker i Dourodalen spillede huset en afgørende rolle i etableringen af verdens første officielt afgrænsede vinregion. Vinhuset har i årtier været drevet af Silva Reis-familien, som forener århundreders traditioner med moderne ønologi på anerkendte vingårde som Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta de Cidrô og Quinta dos Aciprestes.
