Quinta de Cidro, situated in the municipality of Tabuaço, is one of the Douro's most historic and pioneering estates. Acquired by Real Companhia Velha in 1972, it became a legendary site for viticultural innovation, where international varieties were experimentally planted alongside native Portuguese grapes. The 'Marquis' Tinto is a tribute to this spirit of noble experimentation, blending the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the intense, floral aromatics of Touriga Nacional. Grown on a high-altitude plateau with clay-sandy soils, the grapes benefit from cool nights that preserve acidity and freshness, contrasting with the intense heat of the Douro Valley. The wine undergoes traditional fermentation followed by aging in French oak barriques, resulting in a sophisticated red that marries Old World elegance with Douro power.
