Real Companhia Velha's Royal 20 Year Old Tawny Port is a testament to the art of oxidative wood aging in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia. Sourced from the steep, terraced vineyards of the Douro Valley—where the schist soils and extreme climate forge grapes of immense concentration—this Port is crafted from a selection of traditional grape varieties. Over two decades of slow maturation in seasoned oak casks, the wine sheds its youthful purple hues for a brilliant amber-tawny color. This process develops a complex bouquet of dried apricots, figs, toasted almonds, and warm spices, balanced by a vibrant acidity that keeps the palate fresh. The history of the producer, founded by Royal Charter in 1756, echoes through this classic expression of time and tradition.

Real Companhia Velha blev grundlagt i 1756 ved kongeligt dekret af kong José I under ledelse af Marquês de Pombal og er Portugals ældste og mest historiske vinhus. Med sine legendariske modningskældre i Vila Nova de Gaia og vidtstrakte vinmarker i Dourodalen spillede huset en afgørende rolle i etableringen af verdens første officielt afgrænsede vinregion. Vinhuset har i årtier været drevet af Silva Reis-familien, som forener århundreders traditioner med moderne ønologi på anerkendte vingårde som Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta de Cidrô og Quinta dos Aciprestes.
