✨ Technical Specifications
Terras do Grifo Colheita represents a single-harvest Tawny Port drawn from premium schist parcels within the Douro Superior. The 2014 growing season experienced moderate temperatures with intermittent rainfall, preserving buoyant natural acidity alongside nuanced phenolic ripeness. Crafted from traditional indigenous cultivars including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz, the hand-harvested fruit underwent vinification with rapid extraction before fortification halted fermentation. The wine was subsequently transferred to seasoned Portuguese and seasoned oak pipas, enduring deliberate oxidative aging for a minimum of seven years, developing signature tertiary rancio, toasted nut, and dried fruit profiles.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in Bordeaux in 1855 by wine merchant Ostende Rozès, Rozès S.A. represents a historic Franco-Portuguese bridge in the Port trade. Relocated to Vila Nova de Gaia in the early 20th century, the house later expanded directly into the Douro Valley, becoming part of the Vranken-Pommery Monopole portfolio in 1999 alongside Quinta do Grifo and São Pedro das Águias. Helmed for decades by CEO and master winemaker António Saraiva, Rozès manages extensive Class-A vineyard estates spread across the Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo, and Douro Superior. Here, low-yielding native varieties—including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz—thrive on dramatically steep schist terraces under severe continental conditions. The house champions a classically concentrated, structured profile achieved through meticulous vinification and extensive maturation in traditional seasoned oak balseiros and pipas. Benchmark bottlings include age-dated Tawny Ports, vintage expressions, and terroir-driven single-harvest cuvées under the Terras do Grifo and Rozès Colheita banners.
