✨ Technical Specifications

The 2014 Terras do Grifo Colheita Porto is a single-vintage Tawny Port that captures the dramatic, sun-drenched terroir of the Douro Superior. The name 'Grifo' evokes the mythical griffin, the legendary guardian of the high, craggy cliffs overlooking the Douro River where these vines struggle through tough schist soils. The 2014 growing season in the Douro was marked by a wet winter and a hot, dry summer, requiring meticulous vineyard management to ensure optimal phenolic ripeness. Following the strict traditions of the Colheita classification, this wine was aged in seasoned oak casks for several years before bottling. This slow, oxidative wood-aging process has softened the robust tannins of the traditional Douro grapes, transforming the initial dark fruit profile into a complex, elegant elixir of dried fruits, orange peel, and warm wood spices.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1855 by the Bordeaux wine merchant Ostende Rozès, Rozès S.A. holds a distinguished legacy in the Douro Valley as the first non-English, non-Portuguese Port wine house. Now part of the prestigious Vranken-Pommery Monopole group, the producer cultivates prime vineyard holdings situated on rugged schist terraces across the Cima Corgo and Douro Superior sub-regions. By blending classical French winemaking heritage with Portugal's historic fortified traditions, the house crafts balanced and deeply expressive wines aged in its traditional cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Rozès is celebrated internationally for its rich range of Tawny, Late Bottled Vintage, Colheita, and Vintage Ports, alongside acclaimed Douro DOC still table wines.
