Scheid Vineyards' Pinot Noir Clone 667 is a compelling exploration of clonal selection in the cool-climate terroir of Monterey County. Originating from the Côte d'Or in Burgundy, Clone 667 is one of the celebrated 'Dijon clones' brought to California to elevate the complexity of domestic Pinot Noir. In the wind-swept Salinas Valley, where the morning fog from the deep Monterey Bay acts as a natural air conditioner, this clone thrives beautifully. It is characterized by small, tightly packed clusters with thick skins, yielding a wine of deeper color, firmer structure, and more intense dark fruit aromas than traditional clones. Scheid's estate-grown expression showcases the synergy between Burgundian heritage and California's coastal climate, resulting in a structured, aromatic red with notes of black cherry, plum, and earthy spice.

Scheid Vineyards blev grundlagt i 1972 af Al Scheid og er en pionervirksomhed beliggende i hjertet af Salinas Valley i Californiens Monterey County. Gennem fem årtier har den familieejede vingård udvidet sit virke til tolv unikke vinmarker, hvor man udnytter den markante, kølende havbrise fra Monterey Bay til at dyrke en bred vifte af druesorter.
