Scheid Vineyards' Clone POM Reserve Pinot Noir is a dedicated exploration of the legendary Pommard clone, one of the oldest and most revered Pinot Noir selections brought from Burgundy to California. Grown in the cool, wind-swept microclimates of Monterey County, this wine benefits from the dramatic cooling effect of the nearby Monterey Bay, often referred to as the 'Blue Grand Canyon'. The daily maritime winds and fog slow down the ripening process, allowing the grapes to develop intense flavor complexity and maintain vibrant natural acidity. The Pommard clone is celebrated by winemakers for its distinctively deep color, structural integrity, and savory, dark-fruit profile. Scheid's reserve bottling showcases this clone's signature characteristics, combining rich dark cherry and plum notes with complex undertones of forest floor, black tea, and exotic spices, all framed by elegant, velvety tannins from careful French oak aging.

Scheid Vineyards blev grundlagt i 1972 af Al Scheid og er en pionervirksomhed beliggende i hjertet af Salinas Valley i Californiens Monterey County. Gennem fem årtier har den familieejede vingård udvidet sit virke til tolv unikke vinmarker, hvor man udnytter den markante, kølende havbrise fra Monterey Bay til at dyrke en bred vifte af druesorter. Vingården er dybt engageret i bæredygtighed, drives udelukkende af vedvarende vindenergi og arbejder efter strenge, certificerede bæredygtige principper.
