The Salinas Valley is defined by the 'Blue Grand Canyon' of Monterey Bay, an underwater canyon that funnels chilly marine air and fog down the valley every afternoon. This natural air conditioning slows grape ripening, allowing the Pinot Noir grapes to develop deep, complex flavors while retaining their crucial bright acidity. The Reserve bottling represents a meticulous selection of the estate's finest vineyard blocks, typically aged in French oak barrels to add structure, warmth, and subtle spice to the vibrant red fruit character. Scheid Vineyards blev grundlagt i 1972 af Al Scheid og er en pionervirksomhed beliggende i hjertet af Salinas Valley i Californiens Monterey County. Gennem fem årtier har den familieejede vingård udvidet sit virke til tolv unikke vinmarker, hvor man udnytter den markante, kølende havbrise fra Monterey Bay til at dyrke en bred vifte af druesorter. Vingården er dybt engageret i bæredygtighed, drives udelukkende af vedvarende vindenergi og arbejder efter strenge, certificerede bæredygtige principper. Scheid Vineyards er anerkendt for sin alsidige portefølje af levende hvid-, rød- og rosévine og fremstiller både roste enkeltdruevine på eksempelvis Cabernet Sauvignon, Albariño og Barbera samt håndværksmæssige cuvéer som deres Claret Reserve.
