Hailing from the prestigious Grand Cru slopes of Alsace, this Riesling represents the pinnacle of Schieferkopf's terroir-driven philosophy. The estate's plots are situated on rare, ancient schist formations—specifically the Steige schist of the Grand Cru Kastelberg—which is unique in Alsace. This dark, heat-retaining rock forces the vines to dig deep for nutrients, imparting a signature saline tension and profound mineral complexity to the wine. Historically, Alsace's Grand Cru vineyards have been celebrated since the Middle Ages, where noble families and monastic orders recognized the superior quality of these sun-drenched hillsides. Crafted with biodynamic principles, this dry Riesling undergoes slow fermentation and aging on its fine lees, resulting in a structured, powerful white wine that balances vibrant, laser-like acidity with notes of white peach, citrus zest, and a distinct, smoky petrol character that develops beautifully over time.

Schieferkopf blev grundlagt af den berømte Rhône-vinmager Michel Chapoutier og en gruppe passionerede partnere, drevet af et ønske om at udforske og fremhæve de unikke terroirs med blå skifer i Alsace og de omkringliggende regioner. Vingården har base i den maleriske alsaciske landsby Reichsfeld og arbejder dedikeret med økologisk og biodynamisk vinbrug for at afspejle den komplekse undergrund bedst muligt. Domaineet har særligt fokus på ranke og rene hvidvine og skaber udtryksfulde fortolkninger af Riesling, Pinot Gris og Sylvaner med minimal indgriben i kælderen. Schieferkopf er berømt for karakterfulde cuvéer som Lieu Dit Buehl samt eftertragtede Grand Cru-aftapninger, og husets vine roses bredt for deres krystalklare renhed, elektrificerende syre og knivskarpe mineralske præcision.
