✨ Technical Specifications
Sourced from vineyards rooted in fertile loess, clay, and gravel soils of the southern Weinviertel, this cuvée captures the distinct aromatic lift of cool-climate Austrian Sauvignon Blanc. Fermentation takes place exclusively in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks without malolactic conversion, followed by brief maturation on fine lees to safeguard vivid primary aromatics and mineral tension.
🍾 About the Producer
Dating back to 1168, Schloss Bockfliess is an aristocratic wine estate anchored in the southern Weinviertel of Lower Austria. Renowned for its historical vaulted cellars constructed in 1670 and magnificent 1698 mirror-image twin baroque wooden basket presses, the estate represents centuries of continuous viticulture. Since 2000, the estate's vineyard management and vinification have been stewarded by the Pfaffl family, led by winemaker Roman Josef Pfaffl. The terroir centers on gently undulating slopes rich in deep fertile loess, clay, and gravel deposits under a continental Pannonian climate tempered by cool breezes from the surrounding woods. Schloss Bockfliess crafts precise, aromatic, and refreshing expressions with strict temperature control and stainless-steel maturation to preserve varietal purity. Signature bottlings include classic Weinviertel DAC Grüner Veltliners (such as the loess-driven Barock and Oadaxl), vibrant Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling Kies, and select heritage reds like Zweigelt and St. Laurent.
