Hailing from the cool, maritime climate of the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria, the Scotchmans Hill Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful expression of estate-driven viticulture. The vineyards are heavily influenced by the moderating ocean breezes from Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait, which slow the ripening process and allow the grapes to develop intense, concentrated flavors while retaining a vibrant natural acidity. Grown on dark volcanic soils over a limestone base, this wine avoids the overly sweet tropical notes of warmer climates, leaning instead toward a sophisticated, textured profile. Winemaking techniques often include brief skin contact and lees stirring to introduce a creamy complexity and flinty minerality that beautifully balances the bright citrus and herbaceous characters.

Scotchmans Hill blev grundlagt i 1982 af David og Catherine Browne og er en pioner på den kystnære Bellarine Peninsula i Victorias anerkendte Geelong-vinregion. Vingården råder over en rig, vulkansk basaltjordbund og nyder godt af et tørt, køligt mikroklima, der tempereres af de maritime briser fra Port Phillip Bay og Bass Strait. Under ledelse af den mangeårige chefvinmager Robin Brockett arbejder huset med minimal intervention og præcisionsdyrkning for at udtrykke det autentiske terroir. Scotchmans Hill er særligt berømt for sine elegante Pinot Noir-vine, komplekse Chardonnay, køligt prægede Shiraz samt den eksklusive Cornelius-enkeltmarksserie.
