✨ Technical Specifications

Grown across the sheltered river plains and coastal terraces of Hawke's Bay, this white cuvée reflects the region's warm maritime climate and moderate rainfall. Fermentation takes place entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve crisp aromatics and primary fruit vibrancy, intentionally bypassing malolactic fermentation and oak maturation. The Selaks heritage dates back to 1934, when Dalmatian immigrant Marino Selak established early plantings, and the Essential Selection range remains focused on unadorned varietal freshness.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1934 by Croatian immigrant Marino Selak, Selaks began as a modest smallholding in Henderson, West Auckland, producing its inaugural vintage in 1940. The family estate flourished after Marino's nephew Mate Selak joined in 1947, playing an instrumental role in shaping New Zealand's modern wine culture and becoming an early champion of commercial Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc in the early 1980s. Sourcing meticulously selected fruit from world-renowned terroirs across Marlborough and Hawke's Bay, the winery crafts wines defined by generous aromatics, vibrant fruit clarity, and balanced acidity. Selaks remains particularly acclaimed for its crisp, expressive Sauvignon Blanc, refreshing Pinot Gris, and finely textured Chardonnay expressions.
