✨ Technical Specifications
Hailing from the legendary, steep slopes of the Graacher Domprobst vineyard, this wine carries a rich history tied to the Cathedral Provost of Trier, who once claimed these prized lands. The terroir is defined by deep, water-retaining Devonian blue slate, which imparts a distinctive smoky minerality and robust structure to the wine. Crafted from 'Alte Reben' (old, ungrafted vines), Selbach-Oster coaxes incredible concentration and depth from these low-yielding plants. The 'Feinherb' style represents Germany's classic, harmoniously off-dry tradition, where vibrant, electric acidity is perfectly balanced by a delicate touch of residual sweetness. Fermented naturally with wild yeasts in traditional, large oak Fuder casks, this Riesling showcases pristine orchard fruits, wet stone, and wild herbal undertones, embodying the soul of the Mosel.
🍾 About the Producer
Steeped in centuries of family winemaking tradition along the dramatic slate slopes of the Middle Mosel, Weingut Selbach-Oster represents one of Germany's most distinguished Riesling estates. Managed by Johannes Selbach and his family, the estate meticulously tends prized, steep vineyard parcels across legendary grand cru sites including the Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Schlossberg, and Wehlener Sonnenuhr, home to significant plantings of ancient, ungrafted vines. Cellar practices emphasize minimal intervention, relying on native yeast fermentations and maturation in traditional large oak Fuder casks to capture pure terroir expression and vibrant acidity. Selbach-Oster is celebrated worldwide for its benchmark, slate-driven Rieslings spanning crisp, mineral-rich Kabinett and Spätlese bottlings to profound, luscious single-vineyard Auslese and rare Eiswein expressions.
