The Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Auslese is a breathtaking expression of one of the Mosel's most dramatic grand cru vineyards. Rising steeply directly behind the village of Zeltingen, the Schlossberg—named after the historical castle ruins of the Electors of Trier—is characterized by its sheer, sun-drenched slopes and deep, weathered blue Devonian slate soils. Crafted from 100% Riesling, this Auslese represents a meticulous selection of late-harvested, highly ripe grapes, often touched by noble rot. Under the stewardship of the Selbach family, the juice is fermented naturally with wild yeasts in traditional, large neutral oak Fuder casks. This hands-off philosophy preserves the pristine, vibrant character of the fruit, resulting in a wine of exquisite tension. It beautifully balances luscious, honeyed sweetness and rich stone fruit flavors of apricot and peach with a piercing, electric acidity and a distinct, smoky mineral finish that is uniquely Mosel.
