The Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spatlese is a breathtaking expression of one of the Mosel's most dramatic grand cru vineyards. Rising steeply directly behind the village of Zeltingen, the Schlossberg vineyard is a sun-drenched amphitheater of weathered Devonian slate. Here, the Selbach family coaxes extraordinary complexity from 100% Riesling grapes. The Spatlese designation denotes a late-harvest style, where the grapes achieve optimal ripeness balanced by the cool Mosel climate. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in traditional, large oak Fuder casks, this wine beautifully captures the tension between luscious sweetness and electric, mineral-driven acidity. Historically, these steep slopes were cultivated by the Electors of Trier, who recognized that the reflection of the Mosel River combined with the heat-retaining slate created a perfect microclimate for producing wines of unparalleled longevity and aromatic depth, characterized by notes of white peach, apricot, and a distinct smoky minerality.

Med rødder i flere århundreders vinbøndertradition på Mittelmosels dramatiske skiferskråninger står Weingut Selbach-Oster som et af Tysklands ypperste Riesling-huse. Vingården drives af Johannes Selbach og hans familie, som omhyggeligt plejer exceptionelle parceller på legendariske stejle marker som Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Schlossberg og Wehlener Sonnenuhr – hvoraf flere rummer en betydelig andel ældgamle, ublodede vinstokke (Wurzelechte). I kælderen arbejdes der ud fra en filosofi om minimal indgriben, spontangæring med det naturlige gær og lagring på klassiske, store egetræsfade (Fuder) for at bevare det reneste terroirudtryk og en levende, spændstig syre. Selbach-Oster er verdenskendt for sine stilskabende, skiferdrevne Rieslinger, der spænder fra sprøde, mineralske Kabinett- og Spätlese-vine til dybe, ædelsøde enkeltmarks-Ausleser og sjældne Eiswein-aftapninger.
