Smirnoff Red Label (historically known as Recipe No. 21) is not a traditional grape wine, but rather one of the world's most famous distilled spirits, categorized here under 'Other'. Its origins trace back to Moscow in the 1860s, where Pyotr Arsenievich Smirnov established his distillery. Smirnov pioneered charcoal filtration in the 1870s, becoming the first to utilize this method to create an exceptionally smooth, neutral spirit. Following the Russian Revolution, the family fled the country, eventually re-establishing the brand in the West under the French spelling 'Smirnoff'. Today, this iconic spirit is produced via a triple-distillation process of grain and is filtered ten times through charcoal, resulting in its signature clean, crisp, and ultra-smooth profile.

Smirnoff har rødder tilbage til 1864 i Moskva, hvor brandet blev grundlagt af Pjotr Arsenjevitj Smirnov. Han var en pioner inden for brugen af kulfiltrering for at opnå en hidtil uset renhed i vodka.
