Suntory Old Whisky, first introduced in 1950, is one of Japan's most iconic and historically significant blended whiskies. Created by Shinjiro Torii, the founder of Suntory, its release was delayed by the hardships of World War II, making its eventual debut a symbol of Japan's post-war cultural and economic resurgence. Affectionately nicknamed 'Kuromaru' (the black round one) due to its distinctive, stout black bottle inspired by traditional Japanese lacquerware, this blend represents the quintessential mid-century Japanese palate. Crafted using a blend of malt and grain whiskies primarily sourced from the historic Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, it offers a smooth, medium-bodied profile with rich oak, sweet vanilla, and subtle peat smoke, capturing the harmonious spirit of Japanese craftsmanship. This gift set includes the classic bottle accompanied by two branded glasses, celebrating the traditional Japanese 'Mizuwari' (water and ice) or highball serving rituals.

Suntory blev grundlagt i 1899 af Shinjiro Torii i Osaka, Japan. Huset startede oprindeligt som en beskeden vinhandel, men revolutionerede siden drikkevareverdenen, da de i 1923 grundlagde Yamazaki Distillery og dermed banede vejen for autentisk japansk whisky.
