Suntory Royal was first introduced in 1960 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the company's founding, representing the crowning achievement and final blend of Suntory's legendary founder, Shinjiro Torii. The 'SR' designation denotes a classic, highly sought-after mid-century expression of this historic blend, crafted primarily with single malts from the Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries. The iconic bottle shape is inspired by the traditional Shinto 'torii' gate, particularly the one standing at the entrance to the Yamazaki Distillery. This 'Queen Size' release refers to the larger 1000ml bottling format, often presented in collectible multi-bottle sets. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious, classic Japanese profile characterized by rich dried fruits, gentle oak spices, vanilla, and a faint whisper of peat smoke, reflecting Torii's lifelong quest to create a whisky that perfectly complements the delicate Japanese palate.

Suntory blev grundlagt i 1899 af Shinjiro Torii i Osaka, Japan. Huset startede oprindeligt som en beskeden vinhandel, men revolutionerede siden drikkevareverdenen, da de i 1923 grundlagde Yamazaki Distillery og dermed banede vejen for autentisk japansk whisky.
