The Suntory Royal Blended Whisky 'Year of the Dragon' Decanter is a highly prestigious annual release celebrating the Japanese zodiac. First introduced in 1960 by founder Shinjiro Torii to mark Suntory's 60th anniversary, the Royal blend represents the ultimate expression of his blending philosophy. This special bottling is housed in a beautifully crafted, hand-painted ceramic decanter shaped like a dragon, symbolizing power, strength, and good fortune in Japanese folklore. The blend itself is composed of premium malt and grain whiskies, primarily sourced from the historic Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries. It offers a rich, harmonious profile characterized by notes of dried orchard fruits, sweet honey, vanilla, and a delicate touch of Mizunara oak, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of Japanese whisky blending.

Suntory blev grundlagt i 1899 af Shinjiro Torii i Osaka, Japan. Huset startede oprindeligt som en beskeden vinhandel, men revolutionerede siden drikkevareverdenen, da de i 1923 grundlagde Yamazaki Distillery og dermed banede vejen for autentisk japansk whisky. Drevet af pionerånden 'Yatte Minahare' – modet til at drømme stort og favne dristige udfordringer – udviklede huset en filosofi forankret i sublimt håndværk og en dyb ærefrygt for naturen.
