Rooted in the glacial sandy-clay soils of southern Fyn, this distinctive Nordic rosé relies on a field co-fermentation of white Solaris and red Muscat Bleu. The microclimate, tempered by the adjacent waters of Svendborg Sund and sheltered from prevailing winds by neighboring woodlands, allows both varieties to retain brisk natural acidity while developing aromatic complexity. Cellar work focuses on minimal intervention, fermenting with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks without oak maturation to protect the wine's vibrant floral and red-fruit character.
🍾 About the Producer
Established in 2009 on the southern coast of Fyn, Denmark, Svendborg Vingaard occupies a sheltered two-hectare property positioned just kilometers from the maritime influences of Svendborg Sund and buffered to the west by Troldeskoven. Taken over in 2022 by proprietors Christian and Sofie Jeppesen, the estate builds upon years of foundational viticulture centered on disease-resistant PIWI cultivars suited to cold-climate conditions. The vineyard plots, initially established with approximately 2,200 vines, are refined to focus on Solaris and Muscat Bleu, farmed sustainably without synthetic chemical sprays. Vinification emphasizes purity, low-intervention techniques, and crisp Nordic acidity. A signature offering is the estate's Rosévin, an unconventional co-fermented blend of white Solaris and red Muscat Bleu that delivers vibrant red berry freshness and perfumed floral aromatics. The estate also crafts varietal Solaris white wines alongside artisanal local fruit wines, spirits, and fermented birch-sap sparklers.
