Hailing from the historic birthplace of the Taittinger family's Champagne dynasty, Les Folies de la Marquetterie is a tribute to the Château de la Marquetterie, an elegant 18th-century residence nestled in the heart of the Champagne region's rolling hillsides. This cuvée is particularly notable as Taittinger's first single-estate Champagne, crafted exclusively from grapes grown on the steep, sun-drenched slopes surrounding the château. The site carries rich historical significance; it was once a favorite retreat of the writer Jacques Cazotte and is legendary for its association with early Champagne viticulture. Unlike the house's signature stainless-steel-aged cuvées, a portion of this blend is vinified in large oak casks, imparting a rich, structured, and subtly toasted character. This traditional technique, combined with five years of cellar aging on the lees, yields a Champagne of remarkable depth, complexity, and vinous power, balancing the freshness of Chardonnay with the robust structure of Pinot Noir.

Established in 1932 when Pierre Taittinger acquired the historic Forest-Fourneaux house founded in 1734, Champagne Taittinger is one of the few remaining family-owned and operated Champagne houses based in Reims, France. The house is celebrated for its extensive Gallo-Roman chalk cellars, known as crayères, which provide the perfect aging conditions for their elegant, Chardonnay-dominant cuvées. Taittinger's signature style is defined by lightness, finesse, and mineral precision, epitomized by their legendary prestige cuvée, Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, alongside their classic Brut Réserve and the artistic Taittinger Collection.
