Commissioned by Claude Taittinger in 1983, the Taittinger Collection was conceived to bridge the worlds of fine art and haute champagne. The inaugural release featured the legendary 1978 vintage clad in a striking, futuristic screen-printed design by Victor Vasarely, the father of the Op Art (optical art) movement. Inside this geometric masterpiece lies a classic Taittinger vintage blend, sourced from prestigious Grand and Premier Cru vineyards. Crafted only in exceptional years, the wine undergoes extended cellar aging in Taittinger's historic Gallo-Roman chalk crayères, developing a complex harmony of toasted brioche, dried citrus, and profound mineral depth that mirrors the precision of Vasarely's optical illusions.

Tracing its foundations back to 1734 when the original house was established by Jacques Fourneaux, Champagne Taittinger took its modern identity in 1932 under the visionary leadership of Pierre Taittinger. Headquartered in Reims within the historic Champagne region of France, the family-owned house matures its finest cuvées inside UNESCO-listed Gallo-Roman chalk caves beneath the ancient Abbey of Saint-Nicaise. Taittinger is distinguished by its defining reliance on Chardonnay, crafting champagnes celebrated for their elegance, minerality, and delicate aromatics. The house's supreme expression is the iconic Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, a benchmark vintage champagne produced exclusively from top Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs.
