✨ Technical Specifications
The Talisker Distillers Edition Double Matured represents a masterful marriage of rugged maritime peat and luscious sherry sweetness. Originally distilled on the windswept Isle of Skye, this expression undergoes a secondary maturation in bespoke Amoroso sherry casks. The 'TD-S: 5AM' batch, bottled in 1997, is a legendary vintage release that showcases how the intense peat smoke, brine, and trademark black pepper finish of Talisker's spirit are beautifully rounded by the rich, dried-fruit and cocoa notes of the Spanish wood. This double-maturation process softens the fiery island character, creating a deeply complex, warming dram that tells the story of Skye's dramatic coastline meeting the warmth of Andalusian bodegas.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the windswept shores of Loch Harport in Carbost, Talisker is the oldest operating distillery on the Isle of Skye. The distillery is celebrated for its unique distillation setup, featuring swan-neck wash stills and traditional outdoor worm tubs, which impart a signature maritime and volcanic intensity to the new-make spirit. Today part of Diageo's Classic Malts portfolio, Talisker maintains an uncompromising dedication to crafting robust, peated single malt Scotch whiskies. Its flagship style is revered across the globe for its harmonious interplay of coastal salinity, rich peat smoke, dried fruit richness, and an unmistakable fiery black pepper finish.
