✨ Technical Specifications
The Talisker 37 Year Old, released in 2021 as part of Diageo's prestigious Prima & Ultima series, represents an extraordinary moment in the history of the Isle of Skye's oldest distillery. Distilled in 1984 and matured in a select handful of refill American oak casks, this ultra-rare single malt was hand-selected by Master Blender Maureen Robinson for its remarkable preservation of Talisker's maritime energy alongside an astonishingly elegant maturity. Over nearly four decades of resting on the windswept shores of Loch Harport, the distillery's signature fiery black pepper and intense peat smoke have softened into a complex tapestry of antique leather, sea salt, sweet beeswax, and delicate tropical fruit notes. It stands as a liquid archive of a bygone distilling era, showcasing the sublime transformation of Skye's rugged spirit over time.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the windswept shores of Loch Harport in Carbost, Talisker is the oldest operating distillery on the Isle of Skye. The distillery is celebrated for its unique distillation setup, featuring swan-neck wash stills and traditional outdoor worm tubs, which impart a signature maritime and volcanic intensity to the new-make spirit. Today part of Diageo's Classic Malts portfolio, Talisker maintains an uncompromising dedication to crafting robust, peated single malt Scotch whiskies. Its flagship style is revered across the globe for its harmonious interplay of coastal salinity, rich peat smoke, dried fruit richness, and an unmistakable fiery black pepper finish.
